Culinary treasure trove
The Miketsukuni

京料理の写真

Despite its mountain-locked location, traditional Kyoto cuisine developed based on a wide variety of ingredients, including seafood.
The areas that contributed culinary ingredients to Kyoto's Imperial Court were known as the "Miketsukuni".
Awajishima, an integral part of the Miketsukuni, was deeply connected to the capital by supplying essential high-quality and
abundant marine products.

Hotel Utano Kyoto Besho embodies this rich historical background,
offering a gastronomic experience that brings together the finest seasonal ingredients.
Fresh seafood such as sea bream and hamo eel, firm and flavorful from the strong currents of the Akashi and Naruto Straits,
as well as the renowned three-year-aged Awajishima fugu, arrive from Miketsukuni Awajishima,
a land historically revered for its exquisite cuisine. These premium ingredients are carefully paired with Kyoto's beloved local vegetables and
the bountiful seafood of the Kyo-Tango region, creating dishes that celebrate both heritage and seasonality.

Complementing these flavors, our curated selection of locally brewed sake, craft beer, and fine wines ensures a perfectly harmonized culinary experience.

The Hotel New Awaji Group has a direct delivery system that transports freshly caught seafood from
the fishing ports of Awajishima to our hotels in Kyoto while preserving its freshness.
